Welcome to Signal Point…
An Exclusive Golf Club In Southwestern Michigan
“During my 11 year stay at the University of Notre Dame, I was privileged to have the opportunity to become a member of Signal Point. One of the sad things about leaving the University, among many, was the fact that I would never again find a place as unique, accessible and enjoyable as Signal Point. I highly recommend anybody who has a difficult schedule, but loves the game of golf, to become a member at Signal Point. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as did.”
– Lou Holtz, Legendary Notre Dame Football Coach and ESPN Analyst.
With a limited membership, it is easy for the Signal Point staff to cater to the needs of their members. Private golf instruction. A large driving range. Delicious offerings from the clubhouse. Social activities for members and their families.
Designed by Robert B. Harris, ASGCA, the Signal Point golf course is situated on bluffs next to the St. Joseph River, and is arguably one of the best kept secrets in all of Michiana.
When Harris was approached to design an 18-hole course, he soon realized that the site on which Signal Point now exists was too small to accommodate 18-holes. As a result he devised a plan to turn a nine -link club pasture into 18. Harris’ formula was to simply make each tee dual (except for the two par-threes) and to have each green have two holes. In the first round, each player would hit from white tee to white flag, and, on the back nine, each golfer would play from a red tee to the red flag of each green, thus creating a multi-dimensional golf course with the desired 18 holes.
To this day Signal Point is one of the finest manicured courses in the area, with a challenging layout; requiring a variety of shots. Visit us and see for yourself.
Strung along a skinny corridor on the west side of the St. Joseph River, Signal Point is tight and tree-lined, with big oval bunkers well removed from enormous putting surfaces, deliberately oversized to accommodate two separate flags, white and red, corresponding to tee markers of the same color. Golfers play white-to-white the first time around, 3,044 yards par 36, then red-to-red at 3,181 yards par 36, for the second nine. So each hole has two personalities.
Our clubhouse is elegant and comfortable with a beautiful view of the 9th and 18th green. Special holiday events, private parties, and outings may be hosted in this venue.
You may enjoy private dining or large festive events with your friends and fellow members. A boardroom is available for meetings as well as a fully-stocked professional golf shop.
